Using a treatment based on essential oil from leaves of Hesperozygis ringens (Benth.) Epling, 1936 (Lamiaceae), Ribeiro et al. (2010) achieved inhibition of oviposition in 95% hatching rate of larvae at the highest concentration, and all concentrations were lethal to 100% of the larvae. According to Gazima et al. (2011), the plant Tetradenia riparia (Hochst) Codd, 1983 (Lamiaceae), shows high activity against ticks on R. (B.) microplus.
