The US Internal Revenue Service requires Amazon to ask our Associates where their Associate services were performed (either within or outside the US) in order to ensure appropriate US tax reporting. Failure to respond to the inquiry may result in the application of an IRS rule which presumes that the services were performed in the US, resulting in US 1099 tax reporting on service income. This reporting isn't necessary if the services are performed outside the US, so it's important that you respond to this inquiry as soon as possible.
