When is the completed report due?
• Purpose: What exactly is this report going to be about: in other words,
what is the purpose of the report? And what are you supposed to provide?
The next paragraph presents a concise overview of the context for the report.
This may include basic background regarding what’s being examined (the
organisation) and key information that explains why the report is needed. (Don’t
be excessive here; only basic details are needed.) To write this brief paragraph,
ask yourself:
• Background and Context: What is the key information about the setting
and about the situation? What is the rationale (or basis) that has led to the
need for this report?
The rest of the Introduction can present the following aspects:
• Scope (to identify the purview of the report, what the report’s
investigation is limited to examining): What is the primary focus of the
report’s investigation?
• Limitations: What restrictions affected (limited) the writing/preparation
of the report?
