As managers exhibit the proper examples of servant-leadership within their own organizations, their employees may follow suite. Many people learn best by observation. The phrase, “You’ve got to walk the walk, not just talk the talk” is a clarion call from individuals who are weary of hearing “smooth words” from people in positions of authority. These people are ready to see the words transformed into action. Servant-leaders who command respect are willing to demonstrate genuine care for their employees and encourage inclusion in the team building process. In turn, this encourages their employees to do the same not only in their work groups, but also for management and for their customers. Ultimately, the organization’s customers will benefit.
