Driving Lesson
"Whoa! Stop! Stop! stop, S...T...O...P!" Peter was shocked. His heart was racing. Jimmy, Peter's 18-year-old driving student, had just run a red light. Jimmy had gone straight through the red light while two cars were approaching the intersection.
Luckily, both cars were driving slowly enough that they were able to brake. Jimmy, at the last second turned the car right on another street. If he didn't he would have crashed into the car in front of him.
After turning right Jimmy stopped the car in the middle of the street. Peter yelled at Jimmy "What are you doing? What are you doing? You can't stop here; go, go, go! Get moving!" Jimmy had stopped the car because he was nervous and scared. Peter yelling at him didn't help anything. Jimmy slowly accelerated and kept going straight.
Peter told him to move to the right lane when it was safe. Jimmy turned on the signal, looked in the mirror to make sure it was safe and got into the right lane. At the next street Peter told Jimmy to turn right. Then he told him to pull over to the side and stop the car..
Jimmy, I'm sorry I yelled at you, but you can't run a red light! A red light means stop. And when you turn right or left you can't stop in the middle of the street. You have to move to the side and park the car. When I say stop! That means put the brake on and stop the car. Okay, let's try it again.
