The Balance Training Program ()
Subjects in the intervention group performed a 5-phase balance training program, the components of which are shown in Table 2. The program was based on a compilation of the rehabilitation and balance training protocols validated and published in prior studies. Phases 1 through 4 consisted of 5 exercise sessions per week for 4 weeks before the start of the season. In phase 5 (maintenance phase), the subjects performed the program 3 times per week for 10 minutes throughout the competitive season. In all phases, each exercise was performed for 30 seconds, and the legs were alternated during a 30-second rest interval between each exercise.
