In summary, facile synthesis of NiTiO3 nanoparticles has been reported by pyrolysis of
polymeric precursors via in situ polymerization. The results from the XRD measurements
reveals that the NiTiO3 nanoparticles calcined at above 600 ºC show good crystallinity with
the ilmenite structure. TEM measurements reveal that the NiTiO3-600 ºC and NiTiO3-800
ºC has a mean particle size of about 30 nm and 60 nm, respectively, with spherical-like shape.
UV-Vis-NIR reflection spectra investigation show that NiTiO3 nanoparticles have a high
reflection peak in ~580 nm, which justifies the deep and brilliant yellow color of this pigment.
The average reflectance of NiTiO3-600 ºC and NiTiO3-800 ºC in NIR is 62.1% and 58.8%,
respectively. Such yellow NiTiO3 nanoparticles can serve as an excellent cool pigment for
building roofs and facades coating
