Weather in the United States
The weather in the United States is unpredictable. Many theories about it (1)……...., but they (2)………….the test. One simple theory (3)…………..to experts (4)………….the reader of a popular weather journal in the 1960s. He (5)…………that the average temperature in June was higher when the year (6)………………..in 0. This was true for 1900, 1910 and 1920 and the pattern (7)………………….in 1930, 1940, 1950, and 1960. On this basis, a warm June 1970 (8)……………..when June 1970 arrived and the temperatures (9)……………………, the month turned out to be the warmest June of the century, together with 1940.
Every time a theory comes up, attempts (10)………………..to find a connection between the weather and the number of sunspots at the time. The number (11)…………………to change, but no theory (12)……………….to explain why the number of sunspots (13)………………..the United States. Unfortunately, for the amateur weather forecaster, the theory about the month of June (14)………………..in 1980, leaving everybody in on doubt about what they (15)……………: the U.S. weather is unpredictable.
