3. Results and discussion
3.1. Carcass traits
The effect of the immune-spaying on carcass traits from Iberian
(IB) × Duroc (D) females is presented in Table 1. No significant differences
were observed between the three batches in carcass weight and
carcass yield, which agrees with McCauley et al. , who studied
the effects of immune-castration in boars and gilts, and with previous researches
comparing castrated males, spayed females and entire females
in IB × D pigs and in commercial hybrid pigs (Landrace × Large White dams × Duroc
sires; Peinado et al., 2012). However, Oliver et al. (2003) found an increase
in carcass weight from immune-spayed Large White × Landrace
