For the studied samples and multielemental solutions, the
comparison between the values obtained using the semiquantitative
procedure developed here and those from the reference technique
shows acceptable agreement in terms of accuracy for elements with
ZN20. For instance, for Zn, the relative error in all samples was within
±14%. On the contrary, for light elements (Zb20), the WDXRF and the
ICP technique results did not correlate as well as expected, and the
concentrations were overestimated, in most cases. This fact could be
explained by taking into account the complex fitting of these element
peaks inherent in the use of the OVO-55 crystal for measurement
purposes, which has the worst resolution. However, the determination
of light elements is not required for the intended purpose, and the
legal limits for these elements are also not regulated in the DIN 38414-
S4 procedure (see Table 3).
