A panel of five graduate students watched each of
the nonviolent episodes looking for noticeable edits,
gaps in the storyline, and violent content. None of
the above was observed by any of the students. As
an additional manipulation check, participants in the
experiment were asked how violent their episode was:
not at all (0), a little (1), somewhat (2), a lot (3), very
(4). The violent episodes were rated as significantly
more violent than the nonviolent episodes for all four
programs (see Table II).
