In conclusion, we demonstrated the formation of organic– inorganic hybrid nanodiscs by the mixture of a long-chain organoalkoxysilane lipid and a short-chain phospholipid. Microscopic observations revealed well-defined hybrid nano- discs with remarkable morphological stability. The present organic solvent-free method is an environmentally-friendly technique for the synthesis of nanoparticles. This class of well-defined hybrid nanodiscs are expected to open applica- tions in the field of nano-biomaterials, such as gene or drug carriers, in which precise control of particle size is one of the key elements to modulate their efficacy.17
