During the extraction of PAs from food samples by the son-ication method, significant amounts of lipids including di- andtri-glycerides were co-extracted together with analytes. Severalcleanup methods such as solvent partitioning, saponification, SPEand column cleanup have been widely used to remove the lipids.However, these methods used large amounts of organic solventsand required time-consuming sample workup steps. Also, to mea-sure trace PAs in high lipid foodstuffs, sample should have a largevolume. For a large volume of sample, long sample preparation timeis obviously required and multi-step procedures are prone to theloss of analytes.
