water is very important to plants and wildlife in the Everglades. But these days, there is less water for the Everglades. The population of Florida is growing fast. Nine hundred people move to the state every day. To get water for all these people, the towns and cities of south Florida are digging lots of deep wells. They are also taking water from the River of Grass. Because of this, the river is becoming smaller, even in the wet season. These changes are not good for the wildlife of the Everglades. Many plants and animals could die.
