the behaviour of acid phosphatase was different
this enzyme is responsible for the organic P mineralisation in acid soils, and is considered a good indicator of soil OM quality
in general, the increase of the soil OM leads to enlarge this enzyme
although decreases were observed by several authors in polluted soils after the addition of organic amendments related to the enzyme inhibition due to available-P supply
in the present experiment, the addition of hydrated lime provoked a similar reduction of acid phosphatase, indicating that the pH increase was the main responsible of its decrease in the differently treated soils
