A seventh person was charged Thursday in the robbery and presumed killing of an 89-year-old Kitsap County man, Robert Archie Hood, and early Friday, another man wanted in connection with the case surrendered to authorities.
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said Robert Davis, 47, of East Bremerton, was charged Thursday with robbery and rendering criminal assistance.
Arnold Cruz, 47, of South Kitsap, was arrested at 4:15 a.m. Friday, after being sought on a warrant.
Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson said Wednesday a body recovered from a container on a property south of Belfair in Mason County is believed to be Hood. The medical examiner will formally identify the remains.
The Kitsap County Coroner’s Office was searching Thursday for relatives of the person whose body was found.
Cruz walked into a business in the 6700 block of Bethel Road S.E. about 3:50 a.m. Friday, according to the sheriff’s office, and asked an employee to call 911. The sheriff’s office said Cruz identified himself and told the employee he was wanted by authorities and wanted to turn himself in.
Cruz is being held at Kitsap County Jail on investigation of rendering criminal assistance.
Five other people have been arrested and charged in connection with the case. One of them, Robert Pry, 29, was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in addition to previous charges.
