This is a very good practical approach to incorporating intervals into a training program. The key of course is specificity; if you are training and peaking for an event, then your program/protocols should be reflective of the unique and specific aspects of that event such as crit, road race, century, etc, type/length/percent grade of hills, is it likely to end in a sprint. If you ride primarily indoors then these are great recommendations to make your workouts more challenging and beneficial. Intervals are a great addition to all cycling programs, that is why we have an extensive library of them and they are incorporated into every session.
