A novel observation is that we found effects of thiamine also
when treatments were done with thiamine as odour. Although
we cannot totally exclude that residual solvents used in the preparation
of thiamine might be involved in this effect (Song et al.,
2010), this seems highly unlikely, in view of the fact that the biological
effects were similar as when thiamine was added to nutrient
solutions, used in seed soaking or sprayed. These results ask for
further investigation.
