The presented method is a simple, time-saving and economical
procedure that does not require an elaborate purification procedure.
Moreover, the retained metal ions could be efficiently eluted by
6 mL of 4 M HNO3 and analyzed by FAAS. Each solid phase can be
used for at least 10 successive analyses without a considerable change
in the recovery of metal ions. The results presented in this paper confirmed
the applicability of the separation and preconcentration of
metals in real samples with a high tolerance limit for alkaline and alkaline
earth metal ions. The proposed procedure demonstrates good
detection limits and precision with a reasonable eluent volume
(6 mL) and a preconcentration factor (1500/6) higher than that of
other SPE off-line preconcentration methods.
