Dear Sirs,
DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE DECISION – REPORT ON MR. BODIN ISARA
We refer to your letter dated 6 August 2014 requesting us to furnish a report on the result of Mr. Bodin’s performance from August until present.
From our observation of Bodin’s performance during the three month trainings as well as competitions, we have found that his overall behavior is increasingly improving. The results of our observations are set out below for your kind consideration:
1. Family background
Bodin is currently living with his wife and his only child. He once a while visits his mother who lives in the North of Thailand. It is reported that Bodin’s family has always been a good moral support to him while he was prohibited from badminton competitions and they will be very delighted and also supportive if Bodin is offered a chance to rejoin the BWF competitions.
2. Physical Health
We consider that physical health is critical for overall well being so we make observations on Mr. Bodin Isara’s health. Despite being prohibited from badminton competitions for more than a year, Bodin appears to have constantly prepared himself to be prompt in badminton games. Bodin sets out his own schedules to attend gym and exercise regularly (around six days a week). He practices badminton five days a week around six hours per day with his mentor coach, Mr. Koo Kean Keat and his partners, Mr. Pakkawat (***Please insert his last name) and (****ใส่ชื่อนักกีฬาที่อาร์ตฝึกซ้อมด้วยค่ะ). He also coaches junior badminton players of the Granular Badminton club at least three days a week. It appears to us that Bodin, under the supervision of Mr. Koo Kian Keat (his mentor coach) had self-care strategies and maintained his physical strength during his absence from BWF games in the past year. His regular workout will enhance the ability and performance to remain top in games once he is allowed to rejoin the BWF badminton competitions. Bodin’s health status is considered to be healthy and we believe that the state of good health will also positively impact on the way to manage the stress during badminton matches.
3. Relevant attitudes and training environment
We have interviewed Bodin’s mentor coach and badminton partners as well as observed Bodin’s lifestyle and training environment. We learn that he has quite strong social relationships with teammates and coach because he always offers personal trainings to them, when required and he is self-discipline; he also volunteers and joins some other social activities, i.e. teaching small kids to play badminton. It appears to us that Bodin is living in good social and training environment.
A combination of physical and social well-being will help Bodin to achieve the maintenance and promotion of mental health. We believe that the recreational activities in which Bodin has been involved are linked to positive mental health and this will be supportive to his ability to respond well to stress during any top level games. We are of the view that his mental health appears to be in a state of well-being in which he will have abilities to cope with stresses that he will encounter in any badminton games in the future.
Furthermore, we also observe that the Granular Badminton Club uses relaxation techniques as a method of stress management to either reduce stress or increase tolerance to stress. These techniques are cognitive therapy conducted by psychologist, meditation, positive thinking, and provision of aroma therapy massage, which work for the team as well as Bodin.
4. Results of competitions
During the past three months, Bodin participated in two Badminton competitions; namely, Astec Pattaya Sawasdee Cup between 3 and 5 October 2014 and Granular Open between 15 and 19 October 2014.
4.1 Astec Pattaya Sawasdee Cup (having players from more than five countries joined)
Bodin and his partner ranked third for Men’s doubles in the 2014 Astec Pattaya Sawasdee Cup.
4.2 Granular Open (having players from more than three countries joined)
Bodin participated into two types of games: men’s doubles and mixed doubles. Bodin and his partners won the gold medals from both types.
