3.3.5. Incubation temperature and duration
It is reported that increasing the incubation temperature and duration favour the micelles’ dehydration phenomenon (Paleologos et al., 2005). In general, the optimal incubation temperature
of CPE is 15–20 C higher than the cloud point temperature of
the surfactant (Frankewich & Hinze, 1994). Thus, temperatures
ranging from 50 to 90 C were investigated. The results are shown
in Fig. 4B. Increasing recoveries were observed from 50 to 60 C
and gradually decreased after 60 C. Therefore, 60 C was the optimal
temperature.
To achieve efficient extraction, an adequate duration was required
for the interaction between analytes and micelles. The duration
was studied in the range of 10–50 min. In Fig. 4C, the
extraction efficiency increased from 10 to 30 min, and no signifi-
cant change was observed beyond 30 min. Thus, 30 min was selected
as the optimal duration.
