The unerupted or impacted tooth will trigger some major esthetic and/or functional disorders
(Le Breton, 1997) depending on which tooth is affected; hence, the need to reposition in the
arch, particularly if the impaction is located in the anterior region. With this in mind, and to
achieve maximum results, treatment of tooth retention requires collaboration between
surgeons and orthodontists. Consequently, the introduction of surgical-orthodontic techniques
in our clinical practice has made it easier to manage dental impaction.
This chapter aims to review the current state of knowledge on management of impacted
teeth in order to establish a standard protocol and thus codify the treatment of this anomaly.
