The architecture of the FiWi system is reviewed and demonstrated. The two main schemes: BBOF and ROF for transmission of wireless signal in the FiWi system are presented and compared. Amongst these schemes, ROF transmission scheme has the potential to simplify the AP design for FiWi systems. In the ODSB modulation format, the propagated signals are susceptible to a number of impairments along the optical fiber that may degrade the overall system performance. This impairments are decreased by using the OSSB+C and OCS modulation schemes which also improve the spectral efficiency of the FiWi system as compared with DSB modulation scheme.
