MICs of antifungal activity of partially purified hexane
extracts were higher than antibacterial activity (Table 3).
This also suggested that agar dilution method (Table 3)
for MIC determination was more accurate than agar
diffusion method (Table 1, 2).
Partially purified dichloromethane extracts showed
antibacterial and antifungal activity better than partially
purified hexane extracts by their lower MICs. The activity
against gram positive bacteria of the dichloromethane
extracts was better than those against gram negative
bacteria. However, differences in activity against ATCC
strains and isolated strains from patients were not
substantial (Table 4). The most antifungal activity was
found in T. mentagrophytes followed by those in
C. albicans and A. flavus respectively.
