. Calorimetric analysis
A summary of the calorimetric analysis results is presented in Fig. 1. The highest energy content was in fresh leaves (19 kJ g−1), while a mixture of chicken waste and sand exhibited the lowest (7.5 kJ g−1) energy content. In general, the energy content data show that the biomass from forestry waste possessed a high energy content (16–20 kJ g−1) followed by agricultural waste (15–17.5 kJ g−1). Animal waste exhibited the lowest energy content (7.5–17.5 kJ g−1). Among the animal samples, fish waste offered a higher calorimetric value than goat, poultry and cow waste.
