Teach family to give oral morphine
Oral morphine is a strong pain killer. It should be given:
• By the sick person, by the mouth and by the clock (regularly by the
sun/moon, or radio, approximately every 4 hours).
You should advise to:
• Pour a small amount of the morphine liquid
into a cup.
• Draw up your dose into a syringe.
• Then drop liquid from the syringe into mouth.
• Do not use a needle.
• Pour the remaining morphine back into the
bottle.
• Take doses regularly, every 4 hours during the
day with a double dose at bedtime
