The PDRC leader, Suthep Thaugsuban, today led a march of thousands of demonstrators to surround Government House and use concrete barriers to block some front and rear entrances to prevent caretaker PM Yingluck Shinawatra's planned return to her office, after the announcement by Chalerm Yubamrung, chief of the CMPO, that the area around Government House would be cleared for her return by Wednesday. Also reported that the another group of PDRC protesters entered the Education Ministry premises and asked officials there to stop work and join their protest.
In a separate report, a large number of farmers today rallied outside the office of the permanent secretary for defence, the caretaker cabinet's temporary workplace, on Chaeng Watthana Road, and demanded caretaker PM meet them for talks on the government's failure to pay them for grain delivered under the rice-pledging scheme.
The PDRC leader also announced that tomorrow around 2,000 protesters will block the access to the Government House again to prevent caretaker PM and other officials to enter.
In view of possible violence and sporadic attacks on protest sites; until the situation is back to normal from a safety & security perspective, all Siemens employees and visitors are recommended to be cautious on the movement in the city / commute to and back from work and follow local media at all times.
