While the latter have historically been more optimistic, results from the survey show that only
14 per cent were optimistic for 2012, compared with 21 per cent of the
former (figure 8). Strikingly, TNCs in developed economies were also
less pessimistic than their peers in developing and transition economies
about the global investment climate in 2013 and 2014 (9 per cent in
2013 and 4 per cent in 2014, compared with 20 per cent and 14 per
cent). Yet, the inescapable undertone of this year’s survey results is that
investor uncertainty remains high, with 57 per cent of respondents from
developing and transition economies either neutral or undecided about
the investment climate in 2012.
