the sulfate removal rates were very different among the five wetland microcosms (W2 > W1 z W4 > W3 z W0), and insignificant sulfate removals were observed in the wetland microcosms without cattail litter.
This suggested that the cattail litter could act as
carbon sources for sulfate reduction and that influent organic
matter or root exudates had a marginal impact on sulfate
reduction.
