A teenage boy in Northampton, England, had both his feet stitched back on in a 12-hour operation which was believed to be the first of its kind in Britain.
Seventeen-year-old Peter Holmes’s feet were cut off when he was cleaning a soap-making machine and the blades accidentally started up.
The nurses packed both feet in ice to stop the tissue deteriorating. After receiving anti-infection treatment, Peter was sent to Stoke Mandeville Hospital in Buckinghamshire 60 kilometers away, where eight surgeons performed the operation
