Interesting reality that is developing, in a short time we shall be wearing glasses through which we can detect if individuals around us are lying/stressed/depressed or feeling whatever.. . Not sure about the impact on society as lying, politeness, decency etc.. are basic social behaviors that structure our interactions. Furthermore, considering that many people we meet are often angry, frustrated or anxious.. will this affect the way we interact with those around us? We can naturally refuse to confront these questions by hiding behind the potential medical or psychological advantages this can provide in the right context, but I believe that this -and other technological developments- will profoundly affect the way we shall perceive others, as well as ourselves, which will affect the basic building blocks of our psyche -including our symbolic order (e.g. the image we have of our 'leaders'-or even the image children will have of their parents). Lastly, this technology, used concomitantly with AI by whatever power-to-be's [by for example some future version of IBM's 'Watson'] -will be able to do large scale emotional crowd analysis as well as control..using it for commercial or political agendas. Interesting where we are heading
