Analysis of Motive Structure
The 27 motive items were entered into principal components analysis (PCA) to examine the dimensionality of the entire set of item
Such a procedure is preferred to the application of a confirmatory factor analysis at this stage, as the PCA more adequately takes into consideration the exploratory state of the typology of eWOM communication motives. Based on Kaiser's eigenvalue criterion, eight factors with eigenvalues greater than one were exstracted using the latent roots criterion and a Varimax retation. All eight factors showed strong reliability Table 3 contains the factor loadings for the rotated PCA solutuin and Cronbach's values for each of the factors.
Six of the eight factors corresponded exactly to one of the theoretically derived motive categories discussed earlier
