The basic tool of supervision and training is the periodic interview with instructors. Certainly the program director should have one or more extended interviews with an instructor between the time of employment and the first meeting of the Course. During these interviews the instructors should be given an understanding of the background of the organization—its history, purpose, and total program. They should be given some insight into the nature of the adult students they will be teaching, and What they are likely to expect of the faculty.
