To avoid cost distortion, it is not essential that all products share all activities equally, as in บริษัท วานิลลา. However, an individual product must consume the same share of every level of activity or its cost will be distorted. In the following example, there are four products, A,B,C and D. Product A’s cost will not be distorted by traditional costing, because A consumes 30% of all levels of activity. B’s cost will be distorted downward, will be distorted upward, because its share of unit-level activity is larger than is shares of the other levels. D’s cost, like A’s, will not be distorted.
