In our study using a repeated dose design, the cumulative
sum of AFB1 and AFM1 accounted for up to
100% of the daily dose at the end of the 3-d clearance
period. As previously stated, the repeated dose design
is inadequate to calculate the mass balance. Previous
investigators reported that after a single dose, only
8 to 9% of the total AFB1 was recovered by urinary
and fecal routes in ewes (Nabney et al., 1967), wethers
(Armbrecht et al., 1970), or cows (Allcroft et al., 1967).
