Multiple copies of a font or its styles may be installed on your computer if you install applications that contain fonts already installed. You can use Font Book to disable or remove duplicate copies.
Font Book displays a yellow warning symbol next to a font in the Font column if it’s a duplicate.
If you want Font Book to remove duplicate copies instead of disabling them, choose Font Book > Preferences, click General, and then select “Remove duplicates by moving files to the Trash.”
Detect duplicates by choosing Edit > Look for Enabled Duplicates.
Font Book looks for duplicates of enabled fonts in the Computer, User, and Network collections and in all your font libraries.
If duplicate fonts exist, do one of the following:
Click Resolve Automatically to have Font Book decide which duplicates are best disabled or removed.
Click Resolve Manually to review the duplicates and decide how to handle them, and then continue through the following steps.
Use the arrow buttons to display information about each duplicate. The copy that Font Book has decided is best to use is selected.
Click “Active copy” to learn about the font that’s active (used in your documents), and click “Inactive copy” to learn about a font that’s inactive (not being used).
If you’ve set up Font Book to disable duplicates instead of removing them, you can select “Resolve duplicates by moving duplicate font files to the Trash” to remove copies instead of disabling them.
Do one of the following:
To remove or disable all copies except one, click Resolve This Duplicate. Repeat steps 4 through 6 to resolve other duplicates.
To have Font Book decide which duplicates are best disabled or removed, click Resolve All Duplicates.
