If pesticides are first appeared beneficial, their harmful side effects were quickly highlighted. Their toxicity, related
to their molecular structure, does not limited in effect to those species that we wish to eliminate. They are toxic in
particular for the not target species and can reach the Man [1].
Earthworms are common organisms in the soil and play an important role in improving of the structure and fertility
soil [2] . Since about ten year, earthworms have been widely used as model organisms terrestrial to estimate the
environmental pollution because of their importance in the structure and the function of the ecosystems of soil [3, 4].
Earthworms are bioindicators of the contamination of grounds and can be used to supply thresholds of security to
watch degrees of contamination of soil and / or to examine the toxic effects of chemicals in laboratory conditions [5,
6].
The effects of the insecticide on the not target bodies in the environment can be studied by detecting changes at the
levels physiological, biochemical , or molecular of the organisms exposed , supplying tools of quality control of the
environment [ 7 ].
The main objective of our study is to evaluate the effect of a carbamate, the methomyl on several biomarkers of
oxidative stress in a bio-indicator of the pollution, the earthworm, through the follow-up of certain biomarkers of the
toxicity.
