In Japan the degree of active searching for technology
to license in is very much greater in Japan
than in the UK, even though the degree of active
marketing of technology to license out is much the
same (Table 8). This difference is so pronounced and
evident in all sectors and sizes of company, and
whether or not the UK companies have IP departments
or not, that it denotes a marked difference in
approach to IP and technology strategy between UK
and Japanese companies.
