The conversion efficiency of the solar module can be determined from the ratio of the electrical power out to the optical power in.8 Figure 4 indicates a peak electrical power output of approximately 200 W. Meanwhile, the intensity of the incident sunlight is measured to be approximately 890 W/m2. Since the dimensions of the solar panel are 0.99 × 1.64 m2, the total optical power input is the product of the intensity and the area, which gives 1450 W. The resulting efficiency is 13.8%, which compares favorably with the manufacturer's specified maximum efficiency of 14.7%.
