Yisitors to the United States enjoy touring the sites of the famous utopian of the 1800s. In Massahusetts they visit the Hancock Shaker Village, which was established in 1780. There they can see some of the buildings,tools,anf funiture made by the Shakers,and in August they can sit down to a "World's Prople's Dinner" of tasty Shaker food. In upstate new york they can tour the Mansion House of the Oneida Community. Founded in 1848,the Oneida Community was famous for its "group marriagr" (all 300 members of the community married each other), and visitors can see the excellent silvet wara the members made. Visitors to the Midwestern states of Ohio,lndiana, and lowa often stop at Zorn Village, New Hormony,and the Amana Colonies.Zoar Village,a utopian agricultural community no Ohin's Tuscarawas River, was such a tourist attraction in the 1830s that the community built a hotel to accommodate the large number of tourists. New Harmony is located in the southern part of lndiana. Some of the buildings the followers of George Rapp anf Robert Owen built are still standing. In the Amana colonies, a group of small religious communities in east central lowa,life is much the same as it was 100 years ago. The people of the Amana Colonies wear simple black clothing and use houses instead of cars for their trensportation. Thay do not use modern farm machinery, but their farms produce some of the best food in the state
