The network applications and development deserve
to be refined according to the rise of cloud services with scalable
storage and computing power. In this paper, the consistence
problem that overlay network and physical network are not
converged in P2P networks is improved by cloud-assistance. To
completely manage the locality information of peers in cloud,
a cloud database of mapping IP addresses onto geographical
positions is built. A joining peer can find a list of local nodes
by cloud services to connect to P2P networks. The performance
of finding a list of local nodes is evaluated and an unstructured
P2P network is implemented to demonstrate that a peer can select
its nearest node to join the system in moderate time.
