Information and communication technology plays a significant role in current world for its large-scale benefits. It connects people. It helps geographically separated family members to keep in touch. It spreads knowledge with unprecedented coverage and speed; students can now access useful information through the Internet instead of a library to do their homework and essays. It gives business companies a new marketing arena to sell more products and increase revenues. These are the reasons why I would like to learn about this particular technology, and, naturally, a bachelor's program at the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology, Swanborough University is an inevitable choice.
Throughout the coursework, what students will learn includes how a computer works, how a sophisticated application like Photoshop works, how networking works, and so on. A business on information and communication technology would require its owner to understand those and know how to harness them for business benefits. It is my dream to establish such a company. Although, in the first year, studying deeper about general science, including biology and chemistry, is something I will find rather demanding, my love for mathematics and physics will help me get through. I also like to experiment with graphics softwares like Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, and many others, and see how they can be stretched to the limits. Here, I will also learn how to do programming in C, Pascal, and Java. This will certainly open up opportunities to create any programs with any features I fancy by myself. This is the most interesting part, and challenging to boot.
I also find doing industry internship during the third year to be something to look forward to. Students can have their skills sharpened by hands-on experiences that a conventional classroom cannot offer. In real-world situations, how many things work can be entirely different. It will also be a chance to learn how to conduct business and get accustomed to its pace so that I know how to step ahead.
Lastly, since the program is conducted in English, I can eventually be more familiar and confident with using English, as studies, homework, presentations, and examinations will be necessarily done in that language. This is one of the most important skills the new and later generations should acquire. English is, at least for the moment, a global language that people of different nations can share what they know and think, and together contribute to the advancement of the world. This concludes the basis of my determination to study here.
