To prevent unauthorized use of the product, the AXIS P1355 Network Camera supports multi-user password protection, where access can be restricted to defined users only (maximum of 20).
An Administrator has unrestricted access to the product's administration tools and can determine the registration and rights for all other users.
The AXIS P1355 Network Camera supports several methods of user authentication. These are:
HTTP Basic Authentication - This authenticates the user by requesting a user name and a password. The exchange of network credentials is in simple base64 coding and is not encrypted.
HTTP Digest Authentication - This method also requests a user name and password, but the exchange of credentials is encrypted, which makes it much more secure against eavesdropping.
Note: The HTTP Basic and HTTP Digest authentication methods are also used for RTSP network traffic.
