Workforce development divisions in the community college are flexible, respond rapidly to address community workforce needs, provide a revenue stream to the community college, and maintain strong ties to the local business and industry. Workforce development divisions are held accountable to the community college as a profit center, or a college within a college. This accountability can be measured in a number of ways. For example, profit margin, success in student enrollment, and partnerships with various stakeholders in the community and state. Partnerships, student enrollment, and federal and state policies that are currently being created will continue to provide the impetus to improve workforce development.
