To explain this idea in the book I use the example of my young son. This little guy is perfectly capable of making a living. He's already eight now, but when I wrote the book he was six. Millions of children work in developing countries from the age of four or five, as did millions of children in rich countries in the 19th and early 20th century. Maybe I should send my son to the labour market and make him get a job. If he can earn his own living, that's a lot of money saved for me. But more importantly, this will expose him to competition and make him a very producitve person.
