Data collection and sample characteristics
Respondents were selected based on convenient sampling method. The same
method was also used by many other researches (Cheah and Phau, 2011; Mostafa, 2006;
Rahbar and Wahid, 2011). Then data were collected via self-administered questionnaire
survey using paper and pen method. The questionnaire was written in English.
The respondents participated voluntarily without receiving any compensation. These
individuals were given a short summary of the purpose of the study by the researcher
before filling the questionnaire. Nevertheless, of the individuals contacted, 94.4 per cent
agreed to participate in the study. The procedure yielded a response rate of 82.6
per cent of the contacted population (87.4 per cent. of those who agreed to participate in
264 the study). The final usable sample was 223 Indian individuals. To minimize the risk
of possible desirability bias, a few arrangements were undertaken. At the end of the
questionnaire the demographic information were asked to be filled. Then name and
phone number of the respondents were asked. But it was optional to provide this
information. So, a respondent could choose whether he or she wanted to write his or
her name and phone number on the questionnaire. The demographic data of the
