We had managed to get a better understanding from customer on this enquiry. This is quite a tricky one.
Per customer, the final destination of the shipment is to Buatan, Indonesia. However, Buatan is a river port and basically, there are no carriers having their vessels transiting at that location. As such, the customer’s requirement is to have the shipment to Sin and immediately loaded onto a connecting barge to Buatan. They will then re-use the containers to load finish product back to Sin. That’s why they are requesting for MLO containers to be allowed for transhipment from Sin to Buatan and back to Sin with 14 days free detention.
I believed most carriers would not allow us to utilize their containers in such a manner but according to customer, they do have various shipments in this manner.
Is there any alternative proposal that you could share with us on this ?
