Wendy would like to share a personal story about her discovery of the ecotone
as a place of creation and how it relates to the work of this book. She says:
I introduce the concept of ecotone because in this book we are exploring
notions of change and growth, at the margin, at the edge. We are wayfaring
on the margins, as the American educator and naturalist Florence Krall says.
For Krall, margins are rich and dynamic abodes, places of crossing over and
transition, as well as spaces of separation and alienation. Life in an ecotone
is all about that.
