Driven by the socioeconomic situation, financial reasons
are ranked as the top reason for returning to work.
Conversely, the major obstacle to gainful employment
reported by participants is “perceived poor health or severe
disability”. Evidence had shown that other factors
can affect the success of re-employment, such as individuals’
perceived self-efficacy and external support
from family, employers and government agencies [28].
Therefore, amore in-depth qualitative research on these
factors would be helpful.
