Conclusions
The use of computer-controlled syringe pumps for carrier delivery and sample metering and the stepwise variation of mixing coil dimensions significantly
improved the reliability and robustness of FI on-line dilutions for FAAS. Although syringe pumps are relatively expensive comparing with peristaltic pumps, their operation is foolproof and very little maintenance and almost no consumables are required. Because of its excellent long-term stability and ease of operation, the current system could be applied for routine procedures.
